Richard Lancaster

Born in England and educated in India and South Africa, he progressed as an adult, into the colourful life of a tea plantation manager in Sri Lanka and latterly in Darjeeling, India.  Moving with his family to Australia in 1967, he settled in Brisbane, where he worked in retail management with Woolworths before joining Drake International, heading up a world pilot, Drake Management Resources, for the international recruiter.

He commenced his own management consultancy in the early 1980s, initially specializing in management recruitment and training.  Thereafter, he broadened his business base to include sports and celebrity management as well as television and film production. His celebrity management company, Frontline Celebrities, promoted the profiles of over 70 Queensland sporting, media, political, stage and screen personalities.

During this period, he became a regular broadcaster with the ABC and wrote feature stories for major state and national newspapers and magazines.  In 2003, he was awarded an Australia Day Cultural Award and was also awarded a Life Fellowship of the Human Resource Institute of Australia.  He moved to the Redcliffe Peninsula in the early 1990s and is heavily committed to the local arts community.  He lists his interests as writing, producing television programs, broadcasting and the arts.

“Apart from regularly contributing columns and feature articles to local, state and national newspapers and magazines from the mid-1980s to the early 2010s, I had written little by way of `Stand Alone` creative writing. Admittedly I had during that time, collaboratively created, written and produced a 21-episode radio serial `The Dugongs of Macarthur Bay`, a television series `Morning Gossip` which aired on Channel 7. Another 13-part television series named `High Time` as well as creating, directing and producing a 7-part documentary series entitled `The Joh Tapes on Leadership`,” said Richard.

“So it was only in 2013 that my creative juices began to flow. During the next decade, I wrote and published 3 books of short stories, 3 books of my `Observations ‘and an Anthology of my poetry as well as 3 feature-length Mockumentary movies.”
